Sarah is ONE!!

Two days ago Sarah Marie celebrated her Very First Birthday. We had a small party for her today.

She was more interested in the tissue paper than seeing what was inside the bag.

And she did lots of walking for us!! Good form, good form!

Often she wandered away from the gift-opening for some trampoline-bouncing.

"Hey, love these new onesies! Thanks, Aunt Kristen!"

At first it seemed she was more interested in the wrapping paper than the drums....

... but the drums were too wonderful to resist.

For whatever reason, Charlotte has decided that Birthday Parties are scary. So while she was excited about the party happening, she wouldn't come in the room while Sarah opened her presents. She finally came around and watched from the behind the mesh-covered banister.

And then she sat with Grandpa Tom ... a little bit closer.

The Little People Noah's Ark proved to be the incentive she finally needed to join in the fun!

And then there was Cake! Sarah didn't waste much time giving it a try (especially for a girl who is otherwise a picky eater). I made a chocolate chip cake, but the only chocolate chips I had in the bag were half chocolate chips and half peanut butter chips. I let her eat it anyway (Tom picked out all the peanut butter chips), but I kept an eye on her. No peanut allergies in our family ... I doubt she's allergic. But still I felt a wee bit irresponsible.

Sarah received the perfect assortment of gifts. She got a toy and some books from Mommy and Daddy. She got two different Little People sets - Noah's Ark from Bridget and Tom, and Musical Ferris Wheel (below) from Linda and Bob. Those will be as much for Charlotte as Sarah - but both of them love their Little People so I'll be doing some serious refereeing I think. She also got some clothes, books and another toy (the drums) from her Aunt and Uncle in Texas and her Aunt in South Carolina and our good friends Marge and Leo who came to the party.

Both Charlotte and Sarah loved Leo. Just loved him. Charlotte invited him to come play with her in her playroom. My favorite was when we were serving up ice cream and she asked, "What flavor ice cream do you want, Leo?" She didn't ask anybody else.
