Backyard Picnic

Once upon a time, me and Sarah were eating our lunch at the backyard picnic table. I had mandarin oranges. And this little lady had two hot dogs. I drank my water.

And the Bee said, "No worries. I don't want to worry you." And the Bee flew away. Then we went inside the house and we watched a show.

The End!

Charlotte also had a hot dog on a bun with mustard, minus the hot dog. Inotherwords, just bread and mustard is her new thing to eat. Ick. And Sarah only had one hot dog. They both drank lots of water.

A big carpenter bee checked us out about for awhile. I didn't realize that he and Charlotte had communicated...

Yahtzee Jr

Charlotte, Grandma Bridget and myself enjoyed a rousing game of Yahtzee, Jr Princess version last week. Charlotte had so much fun shaking the cup with the dice in it. Also she cheats. We're working on that though.

Easter outtakes

Charlotte made a scarf (or something) of tissue paper.

Charlotte LOVES to take pictures with my camera.

Easter Fun

We had a fairly simple Easter. The girls and I colored 8 eggs on Saturday, one for each person coming over for dinner Sunday. They wanted to color a few more, but no one really likes to EAT hard-boiled eggs, and I can't bring myself to knowingly waste eggs, so we settled for just the 8. After they finished coloring, Charlotte wanted to watch them until they hatched. She eventually gave that up...

Here the girls are admiring their plastic Easter basket-buckets. They only got one little gift each as the grandparents more than made up for our shortchanging them.

Hunting for eggs (and wearing new princess tutu outfit).

Surveying the contents of their plastic egg loot. Sarah is not a chocolate girl (yet) so she was unimpressed with her treasures. And she discovered she does not like Jelly Beans either. Charlotte likes it all!!

"a bunch of feengs"

Sarah and I went shopping for a comforter for new Big Girl Bed. No luck on the bedding, but Sarah founds some "feengs" she wants. She collected them all, temporarily, in a pink basket, before transferring them to a different pink basket. I told her I'd buy her ONE feeng, or NO feengs, but she insisted on a bunch of feengs. "A bunch, a bunch, a bunch!!!"

We went home with nuffing.

In Charlotte's own words, a story about this picture

I was crying on Mommy's lap outside. I waited for the cowboy and he said, "Hi Cowgirl!" and Mommy gave me a ride on the horsey.

And I said, "Yeehaw!" And then I rode around. I rode slower. And then I showed the Cowboy my horse and so I pet him. His name was Phillipe. He looked just like Phillipe. And Mommy said, "What color horse are you going to ride?" And I said, "I'm going to ride on a BIG BROWN horse.

Sarah rode on a horse with my Daddy. And I rode a horse with my Mommy. A BIG BROWN one. And he's just like Phillipe. And Sarah is riding Smokey. And then I wanted some ice cream. And I ordered it.

THE END.

Bicycle season is upon us

Warm weather is a bit hit or miss, but any second now it's gonna get warm ... and stay warm!

Last year we bought Charlotte a Big Wheel which we thought certainly Sarah would be tall enough to ride this year. But, alas, no. She's still a shorty. So she got her very own new tricycle and helmet (with cute panda bears on it!). I hated to spring for something new, but Sarah is not the type of child to be content running around while her big sister gets to ride a bike. No, that would never do.

We tooled around the driveway and cul-de-sac a bit on Sunday.

The garage-sale bike we bought for Charlotte last summer is just too small for her. When the neighbor's granddaughter was outside riding her bike last week, Charlotte wanted in earnest her own bike. So we got her a very Big Girl Bike. She rides it SO much better than the one that was too small for her. I guess size does matter. She has a lot of room to grow into it too.
